Man pleads guilty, crash victim remains in serious condition

A man has appeared in court and admitted causing serious injury to a cyclist in a Bexhill road collision.

Reece Ripley, 21, unemployed, of no fixed address, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (June 3rd) charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by driving while disqualified, and driving with no insurance.

He pleaded guilty to all the offences and was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on July 1st for sentencing.

Just after 10am on Tuesday (June 1st) the 50-year-old cyclist and Ripley, who was riding a motor-cycle, collided in De La Warr Parade, Bexhill, close to the junction with Sutton Place. The cyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance and remains in a serious condition.
