Dedicated staff at a Bexhill care service are celebrating after being branded ‘outstanding’ in an official report.
The hard-working team at QRC Dom Care, which supports adults with learning difficulties to live independently, was praised by the Care Quality Commission.
CQC inspectors found staff were ‘exceptional’ at encouraging service users to live a full life and treated everyone with the utmost respect.
“People’s confidence, independence and wellbeing had improved since they began using the service,” they said in a report.
Staff formed ‘genuine, positive and warm relationships’ with the people they supported and looked for ways to make them feel valued.
“Several relatives told us being supported by the service had been lifechanging for their loved one,” it added.
QRC, which has been providing specialised care services for more than a decade, supports adults in their own homes in Little Common, Ninfield, Eastbourne, and Horam.
Inspectors noted staff were passionate about ensuring people had access to a wide range of personalised and group activities.
They were also ‘creative’ and looked for inclusive ways to ensure everyone’s views were sought out and acted upon.
In addition, the service was dedicated to ensuring that people could maintain relationships with those that mattered to them.
“People and their relatives described staff as excellent and told us they were exceptionally kind,” stated the report.
One relative had told inspectors: “This has completely changed her life for the better; nothing but praise for them. I’m so reassured she is living the most wonderful, fulfilling life.”
Kevin May, the registered manager at QRC, said he was thrilled that the hard work of his team had been recognised.
“I’m immensely proud of the staff team for their compassion, care, hard work and dedication in ensuring that service users achieve the best possible outcomes,” he added.
QRC also runs the purpose-built Valley View Barn site in Horam, which provides 24-hour care for people requiring residential services.
This is also the registered office of the Dom Care Service and the organisation’s staff training facility.
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.
Its role is to ensure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care, and encourages care services to improve.
